Fastech Secures New Global Accreditation for Quality Management Systems: Preparing for the Change – Transition to ISO 9001:2015 and IATF 16949:2016
December 01, 2017
As everyone in the quality game is aware, the world now has a new version of International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 9001 and International Automotive Task Force (IATF)16949. In keeping with its total commitment to quality management, Fastech comply with internationally recognized quality standards.
ISO 9001:2015 is the most updated standard of its kind and focuses on quality management systems and performance. It is based on a number of quality management principles including a strong customer focus, the role of top management, the process approach, and continual improvement. The standard provides guidance and tools for companies and organizations that want to ensure that their products and services consistently meet customers’ requirements, and that quality is continually improved.
Meanwhile, IATF 16949:2016 which replaces ISO/TS 16949:2009 is a standard that establishes the requirements for a Quality Management System (QMS), specifically for the automotive sector. IATF 16949:2016 is being implemented in conjunction with ISO 9001:2015. The new automotive industry standard emphasizes continuous improvement, defect prevention and reduction in variation and waste.
As part of the ISO and IATF certification process, Fastech underwent a rigorous audit of its business and management process. Fastech began its internal preparation for certification in February 2017 by evaluating its existing procedures and aligning them with the new requirements. Since its documentation and procedures were already well-established and compliant with ISO 9001:2008 and ISO/TS 16949:2009, only minor changes in the quality manual and overall processes and procedures had to be implemented to meet the new standards.
“We are excited to bring Fastech into new heights, especially with the new standards focusing more on risk management, streamlining processes and better cost management. We are excited to earn certification to ISO 9001:2015 and IATF 16949:2016 because it provides additional assurance to our customers that we are focused on continuous improvement and customer satisfaction,” said Ms. Odessa H. Tomayao, Sr. QA Manager at Fastech.
Fastech’s move to ISO 9001:2008 and IATF 16949:2016 demonstrates the company’s desire to always perform at the highest level of quality and efficiency to deliver innovative, high quality, and customer-focused solutions for its customers.
